Are you in person or virtual?In person! Research has shown repeatedly that people learn best with real world in person learning opportunities. Brains have to DO in order to learn. Three dimensional learning (in person) has also shown to be more impactful than two dimensional (virtual).

Isn’t in person more difficult?Yes, it absolutely can be more difficult. Overhead costs are more, including staff/student travel time, maintaining facilities and even insurance is more costly. Even logistics on timing staff and student arrivals can be tough. So for some students, virtual absolutely makes the most sense. We by no means disparage virtual and often can offer virtual services to supplement what we do in person at Grace Academy. Virtual is also a great option for meetings or consultative services or even including working parents or other caregivers in a students learning.

Who do you serve?All learners are welcome! We offer customized, student led learning that addresses key skills instead of working by grade level. We have brains that love to read and share facts, others that love to run and do! Some that love independent work and others that do best with lots of support. Analytical brains, creative brains - everyone is welcome. Some students will come and work alongside a parent or caregiver and others come on their own.

What classes do you offer?We do not offer “classes” but rather learning labs. Learning labs have a content area expert who can teach skills and support learnersas they discover new things within that topic. Each lab the leader will have demonstrated a high level of expertise, and have at least 5 years teaching experience. In most cases our labs are led by content experts with 10+years in professional experience as well as advanced degree and licensure by the state. All lab leaders collaborate with each student’s caregivers as well as receiving professional supervision with Professor Cox.

What are you hours of operation?Students may come any or all of these hours Monday: Farm day 10-2pm Wednesday: Eastside 9am-3:30pm Friday: Eastside 9am-1pm As with everything we are VERY flexible! Because we utilize student led learning, arriving “late” or leaving “early” isn’t a thing. If your child is up early, then we can schedule options first thing. If your family prefers a slower roll to the day, then we can do something a bit later in the day. The above list is when staff are available at a certain location. We however have staff that work early mornings and evenings so for community or home based services we can typically schedule from 8am-7pm.
